O Ensiferum iniciou sua carreira em 1996 em Helsinque Finlândia, fazendo uma mistura de viking metal e melodias folclóricas (folk) do seu país de origem. A banda vem se destacando e ganhando bastante reconhecimento na cena atual, principalmente no que diz respeito ao viking metal. As letras abordam temas como: folclore, mitologia e fantasia, escritas e cantadas quase sempre em inglês. A linha melódica desta banda vem com vocais ásperos e brutais, seguido de algumas passagens mais limpas, os refrões são feitos no melhor estilo viking metal, quase todos da banda cantando em um só coro. O grande destaque vai para a atuação da dupla de guitarristas, que faz um trabalho excelente, com riffs rápidos e pegajosos, até porque o uso dos teclados é mínimo e as guitarras dominam as músicas, ao contrário do Moonsorrow e da maioria das outras bandas do estilo. Você pode comprar qualquer um dos CD’s com minha recomendação incondicional, porque são absolutamente perfeitos. Se você assim como eu, gosta do peso do metal finlandês, esta é uma ótima banda e não deve de maneira alguma passar despercebida.
