Firewind é uma banda grega de power metal, formada e liderada pelo guitarrista Gus G. A banda teve início em 1998 quando um jovem grego, Gus G. decidiu gravar uma faixa demo com alguns amigos músicos nos Estados Unidos. O projeto foi intitulado Firewind, e a faixa foi usada por Gus para demonstrar suas habilidades na guitarra, a fim de conseguir um contrato com qualquer gravadora que se interessasse . Pouco depois, a demo chamou a atenção da Leviathan Records, que gravou o primeiro trabalho da banda. Gus G.(Kostas Karamitroudis) é considerado um dos maiores guitarristas de Heavy Metal e é amigo pessoal de James Murphy, Marty Friedman e do falecido Dimebag Darrell. O projeto foi intitulado Firewind, e foi usado como uma vitrine para as competências de Gus guitarra em uma tentativa de ganhar um contrato de gravação profissional. A demonstração atraiu a atenção de Leviathan Records, mas a atividade foi paralisada quando foi contratado por Gus Nightrage, Dream Evil, e Mystic Prophecy.
